The Boy Who Cried Wolf

"Nothing ever happens here.

None of my friends come to play.

I am the most bored boy in the world."

"The lively, direct language of this re-telling of a fable makes it fun to read aloud. A story that begins, "I am so bored" and "Nothing ever happens here" hints at the activity that is about to occur," says our reviewer. She adds that the illustrations make for an entertaining and hilarious tale that convey the "moral" without being moralistic. A great match of text and images."

REVIEWED BY Children's Book Writer JUANITA HAVILL

FROM author B. G. HENNESSY

The Boy Who Cried Wolf is one of my favorite books to read aloud at author visits. The pictures really carry for a group audience, but also are a treat for a close look. Boris Kulikov has drawn the most amazing bugs and added lots of great detail where you might not expect them.

The question for me in retelling this story was deciding on what was the shepherd's motivation for lying. Being the mom of three boys, the most obvious answer was: he was bored.
